Unlocking up to 2 billion additional minutes of movement - each academic year
We fund access to proven, everyday movement tools so schools (and the communities around them) can make activity routine - especially for the children most likely to miss out.
Children are moving less - and it’s showing up in school life.
This isn’t about elite sport. It’s about movement as a normal part of childhood - supporting wellbeing, focus, and readiness to learn. Too many children are missing out, and the gap is widest for those facing the greatest barriers.
In the UK, only 47.8% of children meet the 60-minutes-a-day guideline.
Around 2.2 million children do less than 30 minutes a day.
By Year 6, over 1 in 3 children are overweight or obese.
Globally, 81% of adolescents don’t get enough activity.
If we don’t reach children early, habits - and health risks - can become harder to shift.
.
A simple model: fund access to what already works.
Every Child Active is a community interest company. We don’t ask schools to adopt just another programme. We remove the cost barrier and support everyday use, so teachers and leaders can rely on proven, classroom-ready resources that fit normal routines.
When movement becomes routine, the benefits build - in wellbeing, behaviour, and learning.
Schools are the best ‘equity engine’ we’ve got.
Every child attends school, every day. That makes schools the most reliable way to reach the least active children - not through one-off events, but through small changes embedded into daily routines.
Consistency matters more than intensity. When movement becomes normal, classrooms feel calmer, learning is easier to access, and more children join in - including those who often sit out.
Our focus is practical: tools that work in real classrooms.
Our first supported project: imoves
We’re starting with imoves because it already helps teachers make daily movement realistic - through routines children can repeat and staff can sustain.
imoves is a teacher-first platform with 3,000+ classroom-ready lessons and activities across PE and physically active learning, widely used and rated 5 stars by teachers.
Evidence shows the strongest gains are seen in the least active children - including a +8 minutes/day signal in a 6-week physically active learning trial involving Sheffield Hallam University and NCSEM.
What schools tell us
When movement becomes routine, the change is often immediate - and it’s felt by children and staff.
“Movement helps me reset the room. They come back calmer and ready to learn.”
“It fits real classroom life - no big prep, just routines we can stick with.”
“It makes my brain wake up.”
Built for trust and independence
Every Child Active is trustee-led. Funding supports access and scale, while decisions remain independent and rooted in public benefit.
Independent trustees and clear governance
Clear partner criteria and due diligence
Reporting that supports funder confidence
We report on reach and engagement so partners can fund with confidence.
Fund access. Unlock scale.
We welcome conversations with partners who want to support national, regional, or community reach - and help make daily movement routine for the children most likely to miss out.
Request a briefing and we’ll share a short pack with the current plan, partner options, and how impact is measured.
